Before beginning, take some time to turn your worries and concerns over to God at the end of the work week.

Watching or reading the news, it is easy to find the question of the “scoffers” rising in our minds: “Where is the promise of his coming?”  But you, O Lord, are faithful.  You have promised to bring about your kingdom and you have already begun this work in taking on humanity in Jesus, your precious son.  When we wonder where you are at work, open our eyes so that we may see what you are doing.  May we ask, “to what are you calling me?  How can I be at work in the kingdom?”  Today, we pray especially for the children enslaved by the cocoa industry.  May we work to liberate them by voting with our feet and speaking out against companies who rake in profit on the backs of children.  In Jesus name we pray, AMEN.

Close with the Lord’s Prayer, paying close attention to the words.
