Before settling into Thanksgiving Day mode, take some time to meditate on the words of our Scripture reading for today.

Holy Jesus, we will soon be singing “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,” awaiting your coming again.  And in today’s reading we hear that it is by coming to you that we have life.  It is in relationship with you that we receive life and have hope.  For so many, O Lord, there is little to hope for – little to be thankful for this holiday.  May they know the joy of relationship with you and may we alleviate suffering in your blessed name.  In the name of Christ we pray, AMEN.

Close with the Lord’s Prayer, noticing what is particularly meaningful for you today.
